Police Seek Community Support to Tackle Anti‑Social Behaviour in Kirkby Stephen
Cumbria Police have appealed to local residents and visitors to help tackle ongoing anti‑social behaviour in parts of Kirkby Stephen.
Officers from the Eden area say they are aware of repeated incidents occurring around the town’s cricket club, Franks Bridge and the public toilets, and are working closely with partner agencies to address the issue.
As part of their strategy, police are encouraging what they describe as “natural surveillance” — asking members of the public to spend more time in these areas to help deter unwelcome behaviour simply by being present.
In a public appeal, Cumbria Police urged anyone in the town who has time to visit these spots and to report any concerning activities they witness. Incidents should be reported through the usual emergency channels, with serious or ongoing problems to be phoned in on 999, and less urgent matters on 101.
Officers say that by working together with the community, they hope to reduce anti‑social behaviour and make Kirkby Stephen a safer and more pleasant place for everyone.
