Police Appeal For Witnesses After Four Vehicle Crash Damages Levens Village Hall

24 Jul 2026 Police Appeal For Witnesses After Four Vehicle Crash Damages Levens Village Hall

Cumbria Police have launched an appeal for witnesses after a four vehicle collision in the village of Levens left substantial damage to Levens Village Hall and surrounding property, prompting an ongoing investigation into the circumstances of the crash.

The incident occurred in Levens, where four vehicles were involved in a collision that resulted in one of the vehicles striking Levens Village Hall. Emergency services attended the scene to secure the area, assess those involved, and ensure the damaged building posed no immediate danger to the public.

Although the collision caused considerable damage to the village hall and nearby structures, police confirmed there were no reports of life threatening injuries. The affected vehicles were recovered, and traffic disruption continued while emergency crews cleared the scene.

Officers are now asking anyone who witnessed the collision or has relevant information to come forward. Investigators are particularly interested in speaking to motorists who may have been travelling through the area at the time and could have captured the incident on dashcam footage.

Police also appealed for anyone with CCTV or doorbell camera recordings covering the route before or after the collision to review their footage and contact investigators if they identify anything that could assist the inquiry.

The damage to Levens Village Hall has raised concerns within the local community, with the building serving as an important venue for meetings, events, and community activities. An assessment of the structural damage is expected to determine when the hall can safely reopen.

The investigation remains ongoing as officers work to establish the exact sequence of events leading to the crash. Anyone with information has been encouraged to contact Cumbria Police, quoting the relevant incident reference number, to assist with the investigation.
