New Indian takeaway restaurant opens in Keswick

New Indian takeaway restaurant opens in Keswick

A new Indian takeaway and restaurant has opened in the former Thyme Bistro premises in Keswick.
Saffron Kitchen, a 60-seat venue offering Indian and Bangladeshi cuisine, has launched in Museum Square. The business is run by three partners and employs eight staff, including four kitchen workers. Alongside its restaurant service, it also offers order-and-collect meals.
Partner Lipu Chowdhury said trade had been steady since opening at the weekend and the team expected business to grow as more people heard about the new venue.
The building was previously home to the Thyme Bistro, which closed earlier this year after owners Richard and Wendy Walmsley decided to sell due to health reasons. The Reminder reported that Richard, 61, was due to undergo open-heart surgery, leaving them unable to continue running the business.
