MW Craven To Launch New Thriller At Carlisle Library

Bestselling crime writer MW Craven is set to return to Carlisle Library for the launch of his latest thriller, giving readers an opportunity to meet the author and hear more about his newest work.

The event will take place at Carlisle Library on Monday, September 14, at 6pm, marking the launch of The Killer’s Mark, the latest novel from the Cumbrian author.

Craven, who is also Cumberland Libraries ambassador, will deliver a special talk during the evening, offering fans an insight into the inspiration behind the latest instalment of his popular Poe and Tilly detective series.

The event will provide readers with an opportunity to hear directly from Craven about the new thriller and the ideas behind the latest chapter in the series.

Attendees will also be able to bring or purchase a copy of The Killer’s Mark and have it personally signed by Craven during the evening.

The author has developed a loyal readership through his Poe and Tilly novels, which have gained an international following and established him as a bestselling crime writer.

The latest book continues the detective series, which has drawn inspiration from locations across Carlisle and Cumbria, bringing familiar parts of the region into the world of the novels.

The event is also being seen as an opportunity to highlight the role of Carlisle Library and its newly refurbished facilities, while giving local residents the chance to meet a successful author with strong connections to the area.

Cumberland Councillor Anne Quilter, executive member for vibrant and healthy places, said the council was delighted to welcome Craven back to Carlisle Library for the launch.

She also praised Craven's work as Cumberland Libraries ambassador, describing him as a strong advocate for reading and libraries across local communities.

Councillor Quilter said the evening would provide an opportunity to showcase the refurbished library while allowing residents to meet a bestselling local author.

She added that the event should appeal both to established followers of the Poe and Tilly series and to people discovering Craven's work for the first time.

The event is expected to offer fans an informal opportunity to learn more about the creative process behind The Killer’s Mark and the development of the long running detective series.

Tickets for the evening cost £5 and are available through Eventbrite, with attendees advised to secure their places ahead of the event.

Visitors should also be aware that there will be no parking available at The Lanes Car Park on the evening of the launch.

People attending are advised to use alternative city centre parking facilities and allow additional time for their journey to Carlisle Library.

The launch will combine an author talk, an insight into Craven's latest thriller and the opportunity for readers to have their books personally signed, making it a notable event for fans of crime fiction across Cumbria.
