Millom Man Denies Threats to Kill and Strangulation Charges in Court
A man from Millom has pleaded not guilty to charges of making threats to kill and intentional strangulation during a court appearance. The defendant denied all allegations when the case was heard before magistrates. The proceedings will now move forward through the criminal justice system.
The charges relate to allegations that the defendant threatened another person and intentionally strangled them during an incident under investigation. He formally entered not guilty pleas to each of the offences before the court. Magistrates heard the pleas before setting the next stage of the legal process. A future trial date will determine the outcome of the case.
The defendant was granted bail subject to conditions while awaiting the next hearing. The court reminded those involved that the allegations remain unproven and that the defendant is entitled to the presumption of innocence until the case is concluded. Prosecutors will present their evidence when the matter comes to trial.
Threats to kill and intentional strangulation are serious criminal offences that can carry significant penalties if proven in court. The case will now progress through the judicial process, with both prosecution and defence expected to present evidence before a final decision is reached. No findings of guilt have been made at this stage.
The court did not determine the facts of the allegations during this hearing, as it was limited to the defendant's pleas and case management. Further proceedings are expected in the coming weeks. Reporting restrictions and legal protections continue to apply throughout the case.
The case serves as a reminder that criminal proceedings often involve multiple hearings before any verdict is reached. Until the trial has concluded, the charges remain allegations and the defendant retains the legal presumption of innocence. The court will hear the full evidence before reaching its decision.
