Men Charged After £130,000 Cannabis Seized on M6 Motorway

Two men have appeared in court after police uncovered a large quantity of cannabis during a routine vehicle stop in Cumbria.
Officers from Cumbria Police’s Roads Policing Unit stopped a vehicle on the M6 motorway on January 19 due to concerns over the manner of driving. Following a search of the vehicle, officers discovered approximately 13 kilograms of cannabis, with an estimated street value of around £130,000.
Abdul Ahmed, 45, from Radlett Walk in Manchester, and Abdul Nurdin, 49, from Tyldesley Street in Manchester, were both charged with possession with intent to supply Class B drugs. The charges were brought by detectives from Westmorland and Furness’s Community and Serious Organised Crime team.
Both men were remanded in custody and appeared before Barrow Magistrates’ Court, where the case was formally presented. Further legal proceedings are expected as investigations continue.
Police have reiterated their commitment to tackling drug-related crime and disrupting organised criminal activity across the region.
