Maryport Mortgage Adviser Joins Carlisle Financial Planning Firm
A Maryport mortgage adviser with almost four decades of banking experience has joined a Carlisle financial planning firm.
Fong Dawson has joined Stan Sherlock Associates after operating her own mortgage brokerage, Fong Dawson Mortgages, since 2018. She will continue supporting her existing clients while also taking on new clients through the firm's Lowther Street practice in Carlisle.
The move brings together Dawson's long experience in mortgage advice with the wider range of financial planning services available through her new firm. Her clients will now be able to access additional advice covering areas including investments and retirement planning.
Dawson established her own brokerage in 2018 after building a long career in banking and financial services. Over the years, her work has focused on helping clients with mortgage requirements and providing advice tailored to their individual circumstances.
Her move to Stan Sherlock Associates means she will continue working directly with clients while benefiting from the support of a broader team of financial consultants. The arrangement is intended to give her additional time to focus on client relationships and advice.
Dawson said the move represented a new chapter in her career while allowing her to continue doing work she enjoys. She also said the support available from the wider team would give her more time to meet with clients.
The adviser also thanked the people who had chosen to use Fong Dawson Mortgages since it was established. She said she remained grateful for the support received from clients during the brokerage's years of operation.
Her existing clients will continue to receive mortgage advice following the move. At the same time, joining the Carlisle practice gives Dawson the opportunity to expand the range of financial services available to those she already advises.
The wider services available through Stan Sherlock Associates include investment advice and retirement planning. This creates an opportunity for clients to consider mortgage requirements alongside other longer term financial planning needs.
The move also strengthens the firm's mortgage advice offering in Cumbria. Dawson brings extensive experience from the banking sector and several years of running her own specialist brokerage.
Stan Sherlock Associates managing director Emma Sherlock welcomed Dawson to the firm and highlighted her reputation among clients. She said Dawson's approach to supporting customers fitted closely with the firm's own values.
Sherlock also said Dawson's arrival would strengthen the advice available to families and businesses across Cumbria. The appointment therefore adds further experience to the firm's existing financial planning team.
Dawson's previous business was based in Maryport, where she built a client base through her mortgage advice work. Her transition to a Carlisle based practice allows her to retain that experience while becoming part of a larger financial planning operation.
The appointment reflects a broader approach to financial advice in which clients can access several areas of planning through one firm. Mortgage advice can form part of wider financial decisions involving investments, retirement and longer term financial objectives.
For Dawson, the move allows her to continue advising clients while reducing some of the responsibilities associated with operating an independent brokerage. The additional support from colleagues is expected to allow her to devote more time to client discussions.
The firm will now provide Dawson with a base at its Lowther Street practice in Carlisle. She will continue working with existing customers and will also be available to advise new clients as part of her role with Stan Sherlock Associates.
