Man Charged with Murder After Death of Former Workington Teacher
A man has been charged with murder in connection with the death of a former Workington teacher following a road traffic collision in Greater Manchester.
The victim, Michael Mullins, originally from West Cumbria, began his teaching career at Westfield Primary School in Workington before later becoming headteacher at Stretford Grammar School in Manchester.
The incident occurred on 20 April in the Altrincham area, where Mr Mullins was cycling when he was involved in a collision with a car. He sustained fatal injuries at the scene.
Greater Manchester Police confirmed that a 34-year-old man has now been charged with murder, along with additional offences including manslaughter, dangerous driving, failing to stop, and driving without insurance. He has been remanded in custody and is due to appear in court.
Police investigations are continuing, and officers are appealing for any witnesses or anyone with relevant CCTV or dashcam footage to come forward to assist with enquiries.
