Man Banned from 24 Stores, All Greggs Outlets and Chip Shop in Workington

09 May 2026 Man Banned from 24 Stores, All Greggs Outlets and Chip Shop in Workington

A man has been banned from entering 24 retail premises in Workington, as well as all branches of Greggs and a local fish and chip shop, following a series of theft offences.

The individual, identified as Alan Kendrick, 49, of no fixed address, was issued with a two-year Criminal Behaviour Order (CBO) on May 5 after appearing in court. The order was imposed after he was convicted of multiple theft-related offences.

Under the terms of the CBO, Kendrick is prohibited from entering any premises that are part of the local Scheme link retail network or display its signage. This includes a wide range of businesses such as supermarkets, high street retailers, and specialty stores.

In addition to the listed shops, the order also bans him from entering all Spar stores, Gregg's outlets, and major supermarket chains including Asda and Morrisons. He is also barred from visiting a specific local fish and chip shop.

Authorities warned that breaching the conditions of the order is a serious offence and could result in a prison sentence of up to five years. Police have urged members of the public to report any violations of the ban.

The case forms part of ongoing efforts to tackle repeat retail crime and protect businesses in the area.
