Man Arrested After Attempted Robbery at West Cumbrian Betting Shop

Cumbria a man in his 30s has been arrested following an attempted robbery at a betting shop on Senhouse Street in Maryport. Police were called to the Coral betting shop on the evening of Saturday, January 17, after reports that someone had attempted to rob the business.
Cumbria Police confirmed that the man, who is from the Manchester area, was arrested on Sunday, January 18 on suspicion of attempted robbery. He remains in police custody as enquiries continue.
Officers are appealing to the public for any information or witnesses that could help with the investigation. Anyone with details is encouraged to report online through the Cumbria Police website quoting incident number 179 of 17 January 2026, or to call 101. Alternatively, information can be provided anonymously to Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
