Man Airlifted To Hospital After Serious North Cumbria Crash

A man was airlifted to hospital after suffering a serious leg injury in a collision on the A69 in north Cumbria, while three other people also sustained injuries in the crash.

The collision involved two cars, an Audi and a Dacia Jogger, on the A69 between Brampton and Low Row. Emergency services attended the scene after the crash was reported to police.

The driver of the Audi suffered the most serious injury in the collision and was taken to hospital by air ambulance for treatment to his leg.

Three other people were also injured during the incident. Their injuries were described as less serious than those suffered by the Audi driver.

Police confirmed that none of the injuries were considered to be life threatening or life changing at the time of the incident.

The collision happened at around 1.30pm on Monday, August 31, prompting emergency services to respond to the stretch of the A69 between Brampton and Low Row. The road was closed while emergency workers dealt with the consequences of the crash and worked at the scene.

The closure remained in place for several hours as the emergency response was carried out and arrangements were made to clear the area.

The A69 was eventually reopened at approximately 4.50pm, allowing traffic to resume through the affected section of road.

The incident caused disruption for motorists using the route between Brampton and Low Row while the road remained closed.

The A69 is an important route through north Cumbria, connecting communities and carrying traffic through the area, meaning incidents on the road can result in delays while emergency services work at the scene. The circumstances surrounding the collision have been recorded by police as part of their response to the incident. The injuries reported were assessed according to their severity at the time.

The Audi driver was the only person reported to have suffered a serious injury, with the remaining three injured people described as having less serious injuries.

Despite the seriousness of the collision, police confirmed that no injuries were considered life threatening or life changing.

The road closure was lifted later in the afternoon after emergency workers had completed their work at the scene, with the A69 reopening at around 4.50pm.
