Lake District hotel staff raise £11k for charity
Staff from hotels across the Lake District have raised over £11,000 for charity after taking part in a demanding fundraising walk across the region.
The team completed sections of the 73-mile Cumbria Way, with some participants tackling the entire route over several days. The challenge was organised by the Lake District Hotels Association to support Hospitality Action, a charity that helps people working in the hospitality industry facing hardship.
A key figure in the event led the walk across the full distance, while other hotel staff joined for different stages of the journey. The effort demonstrated strong teamwork and commitment from participants representing various hotels and supporting businesses.
The fundraising total was boosted by donations from sponsors and organisations, including a significant contribution from the David Snowdon Trust, along with support from multiple hospitality-related companies.
This charity initiative highlights the hospitality sector’s dedication not only to service but also to supporting colleagues facing challenges such as financial hardship, illness, or personal difficulties.
Organisers praised everyone involved for their effort and generosity, emphasizing that the funds raised will go toward helping those in need within the industry. The event also strengthened connections between teams across the Lake District hospitality community, showing the positive impact of collaborative fundraising efforts.
