Lake District Hotel Group Raises Thousands to Support Youth Suicide Prevention Programme
A team from a leading Lake District hotel group has successfully raised thousands of pounds for a charity focused on youth suicide prevention following an intense endurance challenge across northern England.
Employees from English Lakes Hotels Resorts and Venues took part in a gruelling long distance hiking challenge that lasted more than 14 hours and covered difficult terrain, steep climbs, and remote countryside routes. The effort brought together workers from several hotel locations as they pushed themselves physically to raise money for an important mental health cause.
The fundraising campaign generated more than £5,000, with proceeds being donated to BEE Adventures, an organisation that works with young people struggling with mental health challenges and emotional wellbeing. The charity uses outdoor activities and adventure based programmes to help build confidence, resilience, and coping skills among vulnerable young people.
Participants described the challenge as physically exhausting, with difficult weather conditions, muddy paths, and demanding climbs testing the group throughout the day. Despite the tough conditions, team members continued together to complete the route and raise awareness for mental health support services.
Organisers said the event was about more than fundraising, highlighting the growing importance of discussing mental health and suicide prevention openly within communities. Supporters involved in the initiative said they hope the money raised will help young people access guidance, support, and safe spaces during difficult periods in their lives.
Representatives connected to the project praised the commitment shown by the hotel staff and fundraising supporters, saying the effort demonstrated how local businesses can play a meaningful role in supporting community wellbeing and mental health awareness.
The initiative also reflects a wider movement across Cumbria and the UK where organisations, charities, and employers are increasingly working together to improve support for young people facing emotional and psychological pressures.
Campaigners continue to encourage open conversations around mental health while urging communities to support services that provide early intervention and prevention programmes for vulnerable young people.
