Keswick Mountain Festival Expected to Draw Record Crowd of 22,000 Visitors
The Keswick Mountain Festival in Cumbria, England, is expected to attract more than 22,000 visitors during its three-day celebration of outdoor adventure and entertainment. Organisers say this year’s event is on track to become the festival’s largest ever edition.
Held on the shores of Derwentwater in the Lake District, the festival officially began on Friday and features a packed programme of sporting events, live music, inspirational talks, outdoor films, and food and drink attractions. Founded in 2007, the festival has grown into one of the United Kingdom’s leading outdoor events.
This year’s programme includes trail running, hiking, cycling, open-water swimming, triathlon competitions, and family-friendly activities. Organisers have also introduced several new attractions, including expanded festival facilities, additional entertainment, and wellness features such as a campsite sauna.
Festival officials said preparations were made to handle the increased number of visitors, with larger bar areas, more staff, and extended registration times for sporting events. Kendal Film Nights and adventure film screenings have also returned after receiving positive feedback last year.
The event is expected to provide a significant boost to the local economy, attracting tourists and outdoor enthusiasts from across the UK and beyond.
