Immigration Raids Target Businesses Across Carlisle Area.
A series of immigration raids has been carried out at businesses in the Carlisle area, with several people dealt with by immigration officers.
Cumbria Police said officers carried out the operation over the past two days after receiving information from members of the public about businesses allegedly breaching immigration working rules.During the operation, immigration officers identified and dealt with several individuals, according to police.
Cumbria Fire and Rescue Service also supported the operation after officers discovered a property where equipment had been incorrectly installed. Police said businesses found to be operating outside immigration rules could face large fines and potential closure.
Further enforcement action is expected to be taken by Cumberland Council and Cumbria Police where necessary.
Officers said the latest operation forms part of regular multi agency work across Carlisle, aimed at tackling concerns identified within local businesses and ensuring that businesses comply with relevant regulations. Police added that this type of joint enforcement activity would continue across the city.
