GoFundMe page created for Oliver Davey who died over Christmas
GoFundMe raises over £7,000.00 in memory of Oliver Davey after tragic death in Barrow
A GoFundMe page set up in memory of Oliver Davey has raised more than £7,000.00 following the tragic discovery of his body in Barrow over the Christmas period.
Police were called to the Holker Street area on the afternoon of December 28, where the body of the 20-year-old was found. Oliver had been reported missing on Christmas Day.
Following his death, a fundraising page was launched on GoFundMe by Kieran Wagstaff, who described himself as a close friend of Oliver. The page aims to support Oliver’s family and help give him what organisers describe as the send-off he deserves.
In the fundraiser description, Mr Wagstaff paid tribute to Oliver, describing him as the loveliest boy you ever could have met and someone who never failed to make those around him laugh.
“He was such a genuine and loving person,” the tribute reads. “This is a tragedy, as he really was the kindest and best person I have ever known.”
The appeal encourages people to show Oliver’s family how loved he was, adding that any donations would be greatly appreciated.
At the time of writing, the page has received 435 individual donations, raising £7,320.00 and nearing its original £8,000.00 target.
On December 29, police released a tribute on behalf of Oliver’s family, who described him as the most beautiful and loving boy whose presence can never be replaced.
The statement added: “This loss has left a space in our lives that words cannot fully describe. His memory will live on through the love we carry for him.”
Police have confirmed that Oliver’s death is not being treated as suspicious.
