Georgia Stanway Awarded Freedom of Barrow in Recognition of England Lionesses Success

Barrow -in-Furness has proudly awarded England Lioness and football star Georgia Stanway the prestigious Freedom of Barrow, recognising her outstanding achievements in women’s football and her inspirational impact on the community.
Born and raised in Barrow, Stanway has risen from local grassroots football to the very top of the international game. A key member of England’s historic UEFA Women’s Euro 2022-winning squad, she has become a symbol of dedication, resilience, and excellence—both on and off the pitch.
The honour celebrates not only her sporting success with England and Bayern Munich, but also her role as a role model for young people, especially aspiring female athletes across Cumbria and beyond. Civic leaders praised her for putting Barrow on the global sporting map and for continuing to represent her hometown with pride.
