FREE SIX WEEK ENTERPRISE COURSE TO HELP ASPIRING BUSINESS OWNERS IN WEST CUMBRIA
A free six week enterprise course is set to launch in West Cumbria this autumn, giving aspiring entrepreneurs the opportunity to develop the skills and confidence needed to build successful social enterprises.
The programme will take place at Phoenix House in Cleator Moor from 16 September to 21 October, with weekly sessions running from 9.30am until 2.30pm. Organisers have also arranged a drop in information event on 11 August, allowing prospective participants to learn more about the course before enrolling.
Designed for people with a business idea or those looking to make a positive impact in their communities, the course will provide practical training in marketing, cash flow management, customer engagement and building a sustainable business model. Participants will also receive mentoring throughout the programme to help transform their ideas into viable enterprises.
In addition to expert training, attendees will benefit from daily lunch vouchers, while eligible participants may receive up to three months of free office accommodation to help them establish and grow their new ventures. The additional support is intended to remove barriers for people taking their first steps into business.
The initiative is being delivered by the Centre for Leadership Performance in partnership with the Phoenix Enterprise Centre, Morgan Sindall Construction, Cumberland Council, and the Cumbria Social Enterprise Partnership. The organisations say the programme has been designed to encourage innovation while strengthening local communities through purpose driven businesses.
A social enterprise is a business that generates income while creating positive social or environmental change. Organisers believe the programme will equip participants with the knowledge, practical experience and confidence required to launch enterprises that are both financially sustainable and beneficial to the wider community.
The launch of the course reflects growing efforts to support entrepreneurship across West Cumbria by providing accessible business education and mentoring. With demand continuing to grow for socially responsible businesses, organisers hope the programme will inspire more people to transform their ideas into enterprises that create lasting benefits for local communities.
