France Storm Into World Cup Semi Finals With Clinical Victory Over Morocco

10 Jul 2026 France Storm Into World Cup Semi Finals With Clinical Victory Over Morocco

France booked their place in the FIFA World Cup semi finals after a convincing 2 0 victory over Morocco in the quarterfinals.

The breakthrough came in the second half when Kylian Mbappe found the net with a superb finish after earlier seeing a first half penalty saved. Just minutes later, Ousmane Dembele doubled France's advantage to put the result beyond doubt and send the former world champions into the last four.

Morocco battled throughout the match and looked to become the first African nation to reach another World Cup semifinal after their historic achievements in previous tournaments. Despite showing determination and defensive resilience, the Atlas Lions struggled to create enough clear scoring opportunities against a well organised French defence.

France's defensive unit once again delivered a clean sheet, continuing an impressive record throughout the knockout stages. Goalkeeper Mike Maignan and the back line remained composed under pressure, preventing Morocco from finding a route back into the game.

The victory keeps France's dream of reaching a third consecutive FIFA World Cup final alive. Manager Didier Deschamps praised his players for maintaining their focus and professionalism, while Mbappe stressed the importance of staying fully concentrated as the tournament enters its decisive stage. France will now face the winner of the quarterfinal between Spain and Belgium for a place in the final.

Although Morocco's World Cup journey came to an end, the team earned widespread respect for another competitive campaign on the global stage. Their performances throughout the tournament highlighted the continued growth of Moroccan football and reinforced the country's status as one of Africa's strongest footballing nations.
