Flood Alerts Issued Across Cumbria as Heavy Rain Continues
Authorities have issued multiple flood alerts across parts of Cumbria following persistent rainfall that is expected to continue throughout the day.
Officials warned that rising river levels could lead to possible flooding in several areas. The weather is forecast to improve later tonight, with conditions expected to clear after midnight.
Residents have been strongly advised to avoid walking, cycling, or driving through floodwater due to safety risks.
The flood alerts cover a wide range of river catchments, including the Lower River Eden, Lower River Lune and Conder, and rivers such as the Brathay, Rothay, Kent, Ehen, Esk, and Derwent, among others. These alerts indicate that flooding is possible and that people should remain prepared.
Meanwhile, several earlier flood warnings in the region have been lifted, including those affecting areas around Wigton, suggesting that conditions in some locations have begun to stabilize.
Authorities continue to monitor the situation closely and urge the public to stay updated with the latest information as weather conditions evolve.
