Fire Crews Extinguish Vehicle Blaze on M6 Motorway
Firefighters were called to tackle a vehicle fire on the M6 motorway on Saturday afternoon. The incident occurred on the southbound carriageway between Junction 45 near Gretna and Junction 44 at Kingstown.
Emergency crews from Carlisle East, Longtown, and Gretna fire stations attended the scene after receiving reports of the blaze at around 2:00 pm. Upon arrival, firefighters worked to extinguish the fire and secure the affected area.
Due to the incident, the motorway was temporarily closed to ensure the safety of both emergency personnel and road users. Traffic in the area was disrupted while crews dealt with the situation.
The fire was successfully brought under control, and no further details about injuries or the cause of the blaze have been confirmed.
