A South Cumbrian film festival has raised £1500 for the Duddon and Furness Mountain Rescue Team demonstrating strong support from the local community.

The fundraising event was organised by a local film club, which hosted a special screening featuring a selection of outdoor and adventure films.

Organisers confirmed that the festival showcased a range of films covering activities such as rock climbing snowboarding and trail biking attracting an enthusiastic audience.

The event was well attended with community members coming together to support the vital work carried out by the rescue team.

Funds raised during the festival will contribute towards the development of a new mountain rescue base which is currently under construction to improve emergency response capabilities.

Members of the rescue team expressed gratitude for the donation, noting that such community-driven fundraising plays an essential role in supporting their operations and future projects.

Officials also highlighted that large-scale rescue operations often require significant resources and coordination making public contributions crucial for maintaining effective services.

The success of the event reflects the continued commitment of local residents to supporting emergency services and ensuring the safety of those exploring the surrounding countryside.
