Family Pay Tribute To ‘Much Loved’ Carlisle Woman Following Tragic Death

The family of Susan Watson have paid an emotional tribute, remembering the Carlisle woman as a devoted grandmother whose kindness touched countless lives.

Susan Watson, 61, died following an incident at a property on Whinlatter Way in Carlisle. In a heartfelt statement, her family described her as a "much loved" sister, mother, grandmother and friend who always placed the people she cared about before herself.

They said family meant everything to Susan and that she was happiest when surrounded by those she loved. Her grandchildren held a special place in her heart, and she treasured every moment spent with them.

Susan was widely known for her commitment to helping others. She volunteered for many years with the Samaritans, spending evenings at Carlisle railway station offering support to anyone in need of someone to talk to. She also gave her time in the charity's shop, continuing her dedication to supporting the community.

Working as a foot practitioner in Carlisle, Susan built close relationships with many of her patients. Her family said she regularly went beyond her professional duties by collecting shopping, checking on vulnerable people and ensuring those who were struggling never felt forgotten.

Her generosity extended into her personal life. Friends and neighbours were always welcome in her home, particularly during Christmas or difficult periods in their lives. According to her family, caring for others came naturally to Susan and she never expected recognition for her acts of kindness.

In their tribute, the family said Susan's kindness, compassion and selflessness had left a lasting impact on everyone who knew her. They thanked the public for the support shown since her death and asked for privacy as they continue to grieve.
