Emergency Crews Respond After Vehicle Leaves Road and Rolls in South Cumbria
Emergency services were called to a serious road traffic incident in South Cumbria in the early hours of Monday morning after a vehicle left the carriageway and rolled several metres.
The crash occurred on the A591 at Bannerigg, prompting a multi-agency response from Cumbria Fire & Rescue Service, Cumbria Police, North West Ambulance Service and the Great North Air Ambulance Critical Care Team.
According to South Lakes Police, the vehicle came to rest some distance from the road after rolling. Firefighters had to carry out casualty extraction to free the lone occupant. Fortunately, the driver’s injuries are understood to be neither life-threatening nor life-changing.
Police later arrested the driver on suspicion of an offence after they refused to provide a breath specimen at the scene.
The investigation is ongoing as officers work to establish the full circumstances surrounding the crash
