Elderly Woman Dies in Late‑Night Crash on Cockermouth Road

A woman in her 70s has died after a collision on a West Cumbrian road late on Saturday night.

The pedestrian was struck by a car on Lamplugh Road in Cockermouth at around 9.10 pm on March 14 and was pronounced dead at the scene, police confirmed.

Cumbria Police said the driver, a man in his 30s, remained at the scene and is assisting officers with their enquiries.

Emergency services closed the road for several hours while a forensic collision investigation was carried out.
