Driver Jailed For Four Years After Fatal Collision Near Rampside

A 21 year old man has been jailed for four years after a dangerous driving collision near Rampside resulted in the death of a 19 year old passenger.

Jayden Cammock, of Westminster Avenue, Walney, pleaded guilty to causing death by dangerous driving following the fatal collision on the A5087 Coast Road near Priors Lea, Rampside.

The collision happened on Friday, June 6, 2025, after Cammock was driving an Audi S4 along the road. A Volkswagen UP was also involved in the crash.

A forensic collision investigation found that both vehicles had been travelling north on the A5087 before the collision occurred.

Investigators established that Cammock had overtaken several vehicles before his Audi collided with the Volkswagen UP.

The Volkswagen was turning right into a parking area when it was struck by Cammock's vehicle, according to evidence presented following the collision.

Timothy Jolley, aged 19, was a passenger in the Volkswagen and suffered injuries in the crash. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver of the Volkswagen also sustained serious injuries and was airlifted to hospital for treatment following the collision.

A passenger travelling in Cammock's Audi suffered minor injuries as a result of the crash.

The circumstances of the collision were examined through a forensic investigation, which established the movements of both vehicles before the impact.

The court subsequently heard the case against Cammock, who admitted the offence of causing death by dangerous driving.

Cammock was sentenced to four years in prison for the offence following his guilty plea.

In addition to the prison sentence, he was given a seven year driving disqualification, preventing him from driving for the duration of the ban.

Detective Constable Claire Whatman, from the Serious Collision Investigation Unit, said the case demonstrated the potentially devastating consequences of reckless driving manoeuvres. She said Cammock's speed and failure to properly assess the road and traffic conditions ahead had significantly reduced his ability to react and avoid the collision.

DC Whatman also expressed condolences to Timothy Jolley's family and friends, as well as others affected by the fatal crash.

She said police hoped the outcome would remind drivers of the importance of avoiding dangerous risks while driving.

Timothy's family and friends have also thanked the emergency services and everyone who assisted at the scene following the collision.

The fatal crash has resulted in a prison sentence and lengthy driving ban for Cammock, while the circumstances surrounding the collision have highlighted the serious consequences that can follow dangerous driving.
