Driver Arrested After Five-Vehicle Crash in West Cumbria

Emergency services responded to a five-vehicle collision in West Cumbria over the weekend, with police later arresting a driver on suspicion of drink or drug-related offences.
Officers from Copeland Police were called to the scene in Cleator on Saturday after reports of the crash involving five vehicles. Authorities confirmed that, although the collision involved multiple cars, no one suffered serious injuries.
Police suspected that the driver of one of the vehicles was under the influence of alcohol or drugs. When the driver failed to provide a specimen of breath or saliva for testing, they were arrested by officers at the scene. The individual is due to appear in court in connection with the incident.
Copeland Police expressed their appreciation to members of the public who offered help at the scene, underlining the importance of community support during emergency responses.
Authorities continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding the collision. Anyone with information that could assist the inquiry is encouraged to contact Cumbria Police.
