Cyclist Seriously Injured After Collision With Car In West Cumbria
A cyclist has been left with serious injuries following a road traffic collision involving a car in West Cumbria, prompting a police investigation and an appeal for witnesses.
The incident occurred on Friday, July 3, at around 4.45 pm on Keekle Terrace in Cleator Moor. According to Cumbria Police, the collision involved a white Kia and a cyclist who were both travelling from Cleator towards Hensingham. Emergency services attended the scene, and the cyclist, a man in his 50s, was taken to hospital for treatment after sustaining serious injuries.
Police confirmed that the driver of the car, a 39 year old man from Whitehaven, was arrested on suspicion of causing serious injury by driving without due care and attention. He has since been released under investigation while officers continue to gather evidence and determine the circumstances surrounding the crash.
Investigators are asking anyone who witnessed the collision or saw the moments leading up to it to come forward. Officers are also requesting dashcam footage or any other information that could assist with the investigation.

The investigation remains ongoing as police work to establish the full sequence of events leading to the serious collision.
