Cyclist Killed in Collision on A6 Near Penrith

A local man in his 70s has died after a serious collision involving a heavy goods vehicle on the A6 south of Hackthorpe, near Penrith. The crash occurred on Wednesday, January 28, prompting a swift response from emergency services.
Police say the cyclist sustained life threatening injuries in the collision and, despite the efforts of attending crews including an air ambulance, he was pronounced dead at the scene. The victim has been described as a resident of the local area, though his identity has not yet been publicly released.
Cumbria Police have launched an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the incident. Officers are appealing to anyone who witnessed the collision or was in the vicinity at the time to come forward with information. Authorities are also urging drivers with dashcam footage that may assist the investigation to get in touch.
