Cumbria Speedway Rider Mark Parker Returns To Edinburgh Monarchs Academy
Cumbria speedway rider Mark Parker is preparing for a welcome return to competitive racing after Edinburgh Monarchs Academy confirmed he will feature in Friday's WSRA National Development League fixture against King's Lynn Young Stars at Armadale.
The 21 year old, who was born in Carlisle, progressed through the Monarchs Academy development system before becoming a full time member of the club's squad during the 2025 season. After stepping away from speedway to focus on his wellbeing and reset mentally, Parker is now beginning his journey back to regular competition.
Edinburgh has brought Parker back as a guest rider for the upcoming league clash, giving him the opportunity to rebuild confidence and regain valuable race experience. The club believes his familiarity with the team and previous experience at the development level will strengthen the squad for the important fixture.
Edinburgh manager Scott Wilson welcomed Parker's return, explaining that the rider had taken time away from the sport to focus on his mental wellbeing and is now working towards a full time comeback. Wilson said everyone at the club is pleased to see Parker back in the Academy team and hopes this appearance will be the first step in a successful return to racing.
