Cumbria County Club Strengthens Squad with Signing of Former Cheshire Batsman
Cumbria County Cricket Club has announced the signing of 34-year-old former Cheshire batsman Calum Rowe as part of preparations for the upcoming season.
Rowe, who has recently relocated to Carlisle for work, has already committed to Eden side and will now also represent Cumbria in the National Counties competition.
During his time with Cheshire, Rowe featured in 43 Minor Counties Championship matches and 19 One Day Trophy games between 2012 and 2021. He accumulated more than 2,500 runs, including two centuries, with a highest score of 155 not out.
In recent years, he has been a key player for Castleford Cricket Club in the Yorkshire Premier League North, where he contributed to title-winning campaigns in both 2023 and 2025. He also captained the side for several seasons, guiding them to multiple cup successes.
Rowe has now been registered for Cumbria ahead of the new campaign and is expected to make his debut in the opening fixture against Shropshire at Bridgnorth.
Meanwhile, Cumbria have also confirmed changes to their squad, including the departure of experienced bowler Chris Wright, who will move into a coaching role with Derbyshire.
The club continues to reshape its squad as it prepares for a competitive season in the National Counties Championship.
