Community Spirit Shines as Crowds Gather for Carlisle Show and Tell Event

18 May 2026 Community Spirit Shines as Crowds Gather for Carlisle Show and Tell Event

Large crowds turned out at Bitts Park in Carlisle on Sunday for the popular Show and Tell community event organised by Carlisle Matters. The free event brought together families, local organisations and businesses for a day filled with entertainment, activities and community engagement.

Visitors explored a wide range of stalls and exhibits while community groups showcased the support and services they provide across Carlisle and nearby areas. The event aimed to strengthen community connections and highlight local initiatives that contribute to the city’s social life.

One of the major attractions was the colourful knitted artwork displayed around the park by the Carlisle Matters Yarn Bombers. The creative decorations added a vibrant atmosphere and drew attention from attendees throughout the day.

Several notable figures attended the celebration, including Julie Minns, newly appointed mayor Anne Glendinning and David Allen. Live performances from local entertainers and music acts helped maintain a lively festival atmosphere for visitors of all ages.

Dance performances by Studio A Dance Company also impressed audiences, adding energy and excitement to the event.

Organisers said the event was made possible through support from local sponsors, businesses and community partners working together to celebrate Carlisle’s community spirit and encourage stronger local connections.
