A climber has been airlifted to hospital after dislocating their shoulder during a climb in the Lake District.

Rescue teams were called to Gimmer Crag in the Langdale area after the lead climber sustained the injury while partway up a route. According to reports, two experienced climbers who witnessed the incident assisted the injured person in descending safely to the base of the crag.

Members of the Langdale Ambleside Mountain Rescue Team arrived at the scene shortly afterwards and provided medical assistance. The casualty was then transferred into a Coastguard helicopter and flown to hospital for further treatment.

Rescuers expressed gratitude to those who initially helped the injured climber, highlighting the importance of quick action and cooperation in such situations.
