Children chosen to switch on Keswick Christmas lights

Children chosen to switch on Keswick Christmas lights

It has now been chosen by Keswick Town Council, organisers of the Christmas lights switch-on, to flick the switch on Friday November 21. Bill Bewley, a spokesperson for the KCHT, said: “We are thrilled, absolutely thrilled. It’s recognition in your own town and you can’t get better than that.”
Once again the Rotary Club of Keswick is hosting and organising the celebrations in The Packhorse Court before their lights are turned on by Peter Rabbit at 5.15pm.
The Keswick Amateur Operatic Society Singers and children from St Herbert’s C of E School will be delighting the crowds with Christmas carols, and they will be followed by Dorothy and friends from Theatre by the Lake’s The Wizard of Oz, on the main stage in front of the Moot Hall.
Local band The Kasios – a huge hit at the Keswick Beer Festival – will then headline at 6pm. They are teaming up with members of the North Lakes Brass band, starting with traditional brass carols before turning up the energy with their seven-piece line-up to play a mix of festive favourites and party tunes guaranteed to get everyone singing and dancing along.
“It’s going to be a spectacular evening of festive celebrations, bringing the community together for an unforgettable start to the Christmas season,” said the town council’s events co-ordinator Yvonne Booth.
