Carlisle Police Charge Two People in Proactive Crackdown on Shop Theft Offences
Officers from the Carlisle & Wigton Neighbourhood Policing Teams have carried out a proactive investigation targeting ongoing retail crime in the city, resulting in multiple charges against two individuals.
A woman from Carlisle, Corrina Kirkpatrick (35), of St Johns Court, has been charged with a total of 16 offences. These include eight counts of theft from shops and eight counts of breaching a Criminal Behaviour Order (CBO). The order had previously been issued against her on 23 September 2025 due to earlier offending behaviour.
In a separate case, a man named Paul Elliott (44), of Hawthorn Grove, Carlisle, has also been charged as part of the same policing operation. He faces three counts of theft from a shop.
Both individuals were charged on 8 April and are now set to appear at North Cumbria Magistrates’ Court on 18 May 2026. Kirkpatrick has been remanded in custody ahead of her hearing.
Police say the action forms part of a wider strategy of proactive policing tactics aimed at tackling retail crime and supporting local businesses across Carlisle. Neighbourhood officers confirmed they will continue working closely with retailers to identify repeat offenders and reduce shop theft in the area.
The investigation highlights ongoing efforts by police to disrupt repeat offending, enforce existing court orders, and maintain safer shopping environments for the community.
