Cannabis Farm Uncovered in Cleator Moor, Man Charged
A cannabis farm containing more than a hundred plants has been discovered at a property in Cleator Moor, prompting police action and court proceedings against a suspect.
Officers found the illegal cultivation site at a house on Whitehaven Road, where they seized around 132 cannabis plants with an estimated street value exceeding £105,000.
A 49-year-old man, identified as Vehbi Ademat and described as having no fixed address, appeared before Workington Magistrates’ Court charged with producing a Class B controlled drug. He has been remanded in custody and is due to appear at Carlisle Crown Court on 25 February.
Following the discovery, police issued advice to the public on how to spot potential cannabis farms in residential areas. Warning signs include strong unusual smells, covered windows, excessive security measures, constant bright lighting, unusual condensation, frequent visitors at odd hours, and the continuous sound of ventilation equipment.
Authorities continue to urge residents to report suspicious activity, stressing that public awareness plays a vital role in tackling organised drug production and keeping communities safe.
