Café and Community Hub Planned for Keswick’s Moot Hall
A new café, deli and community hub is set to open inside the historic Moot Hall in Keswick, bringing a fresh food offering and creative space to the popular Lake District town.
The venture will be run by Twisted Willow, an independent café and pet boutique currently operating in Wigton. The business is preparing to relocate its café operations to Moot Hall, transforming the building into a multi-purpose venue combining food, art and community activities.
The new space will feature a café alongside a Greek and Cypriot delicatessen, offering Mediterranean-inspired dishes and specialty products. In addition, the venue will host an artist marketplace, giving independent makers and creatives the chance to showcase and sell their work in one of the Lake District’s busiest tourist destinations.
A flexible community area will also be included in the development. Organisers say it will be used for workshops, meetings, clubs and local events, creating a space where residents and visitors can gather and take part in community activities.
Twisted Willow was founded by chef Constantinos Theophanous and Scott Thain. Theophanous, who grew up in Larnaca, Cyprus, says his upbringing and family recipes will heavily influence the café’s menu, bringing authentic Mediterranean flavours to the new Keswick location.
The project aims to combine food, creativity and community engagement under one roof, adding a new attraction to the heart of Keswick while supporting local artists and groups.
