Barrow to Host Exciting New Comics Festival This April

04 Apr 2026 Barrow to Host Exciting New Comics Festival This April

Barrow town centre is set to burst with creativity on Saturday 18th April 2026 as the brand-new Barrow Does Comics festival makes its debut, bringing together comic fans, creators and industry talent for a day of art, workshops and inspiration.

Organised by Barrow BID in partnership with the Lakes International Comic Art Festival (LICAF), the event is aimed primarily at young people aged 16 to 25, whether they are hobbyists, aspiring artists or simply lovers of comic art.

The full programme and guest list have now been revealed, with appearances from acclaimed comic professionals including Charlie Adlard, Michael Lark, Sean Phillips and Young Comics Laureate Mollie Ray among others. Attendees will have the chance to meet these creators, attend discussions and get portfolios reviewed, but booking for some sessions is essential due to limited slots.

At the heart of the festival will be a bustling Comics Marketplace featuring a curated selection of local and national exhibitors selling comics, posters, badges and other merchandise.

The festival also kicks off the night before with a free Drawn to the Screen live drawing event at the University of Barrow Campus.

Official festival artwork and the event poster have been created by artist Lyndon White, capturing the vibrant spirit of the new celebration.

Barrow Does Comics promises a colourful and creative atmosphere as it runs alongside the Festival of Colours, making Barrow town centre a hub of artistic energy this April.
