Barrow Raiders Fall to Strong Oldham Side Despite Brave Fight
Barrow Raiders were beaten 40-18 by a powerful Oldham side in a hard-fought Championship clash, although the final score did not fully reflect the competitiveness of the match.
The Raiders made a flying start, scoring two converted tries within the opening four minutes to take early control. However, the momentum shifted after a heated exchange led to a sinbin for Barrow, allowing Oldham to regroup and begin their comeback.
Oldham capitalized on the numerical advantage and steadily worked their way back into the contest, eventually taking a narrow 16-12 lead into halftime after a series of well-taken tries.
In the second half, the visitors extended their lead, but Barrow responded with a strong effort to close the gap to just four points, keeping the game finely balanced heading into the final stages.
However, Oldham finished the stronger of the two sides, scoring three late tries in the final ten minutes to seal victory and underline their dominance.
Despite the loss, Barrow’s performance demonstrated determination and attacking quality, suggesting they can take positives forward from a match that proved far closer than the scoreline indicates.
