Barrow Man Sentenced to Six Years in Prison for Drug Supply Offences
A 57-year-old man from Barrow in Furness has been sentenced to six years’ imprisonment after being convicted of multiple drug offences involving heroin and cocaine.
Peter Barry of Rodney Street was handed the sentence on Wednesday following his conviction for two counts of possession with intent to supply Class A drugs, as well as two counts of possession of heroin and cocaine. In addition to the drug charges, Barry was also sentenced for failing to appear at a court hearing late last year.
The court heard that on 2 October 2025, officers from the police were conducting an operation targeting drug-related crime in the Barrow area when they spotted Barry riding a bicycle on Schneider Road. Barry had previously been identified through intelligence as someone involved in the supply of Class A drugs in the locality.
When officers stopped Barry for a search, he initially resisted before a quantity of wraps containing a brown and white powder, later confirmed to be heroin and cocaine, was found in his possession. He was subsequently arrested on suspicion of possession with intent to supply.
A spokesperson for the Westmorland and Furness Community and Serious Organised Crime team praised the proactive policing that led to the conviction, saying the sentencing reflects ongoing efforts to tackle drug dealing in local communities. Police have reiterated their commitment to identifying and apprehending those involved in the illegal drug trade.
