Barrow Father Jailed After Being Found With Large Amount of Cocaine on His 30th Birthday
A Barrow man has been sentenced to prison after being caught with a significant amount of cocaine on the day he turned 30.
According to reports, the 30-year-old father of four was stopped by police on his birthday when officers discovered a large quantity of Class A cocaine in his possession. He was subsequently arrested and charged with possession with intent to supply the illegal drug.
The court heard how the discovery of the drugs came as a “moment of madness” on what should have been a celebration with family and friends. Prosecutors said the defendant had planned to use the cocaine as part of his birthday plans, but instead found himself in front of a judge.
After pleading guilty to the charges, the father was sentenced to five years and four months in prison. The sentence reflects the seriousness with which the courts view drug supply offences and the impact such crimes have on local communities.
A spokesperson for Cumbria Police urged others to consider the wider harm caused by Class A drugs and encouraged the public to report any information related to drug offences to the authorities or through Crimestoppers anonymously.
