17 Apr 2026 Barrow Boss Darren Byfield Takes Interim Role At Walsall After Coaching Change

Darren Byfield has taken charge as interim head coach of Walsall after a recent change in management at the club.

The former striker who previously played for both Walsall and other English clubs has stepped into the role as the team looks for stability during a transitional period.

Byfield has been part of the coaching setup and now moves into a temporary leadership position following the departure of the previous manager.

Club officials confirmed that the decision was made to ensure continuity and stability within the squad while longer term plans are considered.

The interim appointment gives Byfield responsibility for first team duties training sessions and match preparation as Walsall continue their season.

He is expected to lead the team for upcoming fixtures while the club evaluates its options for a permanent managerial appointment.

Byfield who has experience in both playing and coaching roles is seen as a steady presence during this important phase of the club season.
