Around 1,200 People Take Part In St Mary’s Hospice Walk To Remember.

Around 1,200 people took part in St Mary’s Hospice’s Walk to Remember, bringing the community together for an emotional evening of remembrance and fundraising.

The annual event saw participants take on the 10 mile twilight walk from Ulverston to Barrow, with walkers coming together to remember loved ones while supporting the work of St Mary’s Hospice. The event has become an important date in the local community calendar, attracting families, friends, colleagues and supporters who want to take part in a meaningful challenge while raising money for hospice services.

St Mary’s Hospice provides specialist care and support for patients and families affected by life limiting illnesses across South Cumbria. The charity relies heavily on fundraising and donations to continue providing its services free of charge.

The hospice's official event information confirms that the Walk to Remember is a 10 mile route, while a five mile option has also been introduced for those who may not be able to complete the full distance. This year’s event was once again supported by a large team of volunteers and event staff, helping participants along the route and ensuring the walk could take place safely.

The strong turnout highlights the continued support for St Mary’s Hospice across the Furness community, with hundreds of people coming together not only to raise funds but also to share memories and show solidarity with families who have experienced loss.

The hospice has previously reported that its Walk to Remember has raised more than £130,000, demonstrating the significant contribution the event makes towards funding its vital work.
