Appeal Launched For Two Missing West Cumbrian Teenagers
Police are appealing for information to locate two missing West Cumbrian teenagers who are believed to be together in Workington.
Sharna Wood, aged 17, is missing from Workington, while 17 year old Kyle Hindmoor is missing from Maryport. Police believe both teenagers may currently be in the Workington area and have issued an appeal for anyone with information about their whereabouts to come forward. Officers have said they are concerned for the welfare of both teenagers and are continuing efforts to locate them.
Sharna is described by police as white, approximately 5ft 3ins tall and of slim build. She has long dark hair and brown eyes. Officers have released these details to help members of the public identify her if they see her in the Workington area or elsewhere in West Cumbria.
At the time she was last seen, Sharna was wearing black joggers, a black hoodie and cream Crocs. Police have included the clothing description as part of their appeal, alongside details of her appearance. Anyone who may have seen a teenager matching the description is being encouraged to consider whether their information could assist officers.
Kyle is described as white, approximately 5ft 9ins tall and of slim build. He has short dark hair. Police believe he may be with Sharna, meaning information about either teenager could potentially help officers locate both of them.
When Kyle was last seen, he was wearing a black hoodie, dark tracksuit bottoms and dark trainers. The clothing information has been provided to help members of the public distinguish him if they encounter him. Officers are asking anyone who recognises either teenager to contact police with details of where and when they were seen.
The two teenagers are from different parts of West Cumbria but police believe they may currently be together. Sharna is from Workington and Kyle is from Maryport, with officers specifically identifying the Workington area as a possible location for both. The appeal is therefore focused on information that could help establish where the pair may have travelled.
Police have expressed concern for the welfare of both teenagers. Such appeals are issued when officers need the public's assistance in locating people whose whereabouts are unknown and where there are concerns about their wellbeing. Officers are continuing their enquiries while asking residents and visitors to remain alert to the descriptions that have been provided.
Members of the public who have recently travelled around Workington or nearby areas may be able to assist if they have seen either teenager. Police are asking people to consider recent sightings and any circumstances that may appear relevant. Even information that seems minor could potentially help officers establish the teenagers' movements.
The appeal also asks the teenagers themselves to make contact with police if they see the information. Officers have encouraged Sharna and Kyle to contact them directly, providing an opportunity for them to confirm that they are safe and allow police to establish their whereabouts.
Police have not provided further details about the circumstances surrounding the teenagers' disappearance. The appeal is focused on locating them and establishing their welfare rather than providing speculation about where they may have gone. Members of the public are therefore being asked to provide information directly to officers rather than making assumptions about their circumstances.
Workington is the area where police currently believe both teenagers may be located. Anyone who has seen Sharna or Kyle there is being encouraged to report the information as soon as possible. Officers will assess any information received and use it to support their ongoing efforts to locate the pair.
The descriptions released by police include the teenagers' ages, heights, builds, hair and clothing. These details are intended to help people recognise them while avoiding unnecessary speculation about their circumstances. Anyone who believes they have seen either teenager should note the location and circumstances of the sighting when contacting police.
The appeal covers West Cumbria generally, although Workington has been identified as the area where the teenagers may currently be. Residents in Workington, Maryport and surrounding communities are therefore being encouraged to remain aware of the information released by officers. People travelling between these areas may also have information that could assist the search.
Police have asked anyone with information about the whereabouts of either teenager to contact them by calling 101. The appeal remains active while officers continue enquiries to locate Sharna and Kyle and establish that they are safe. Members of the public are being encouraged to contact police rather than attempting to investigate their whereabouts themselves.
Anyone who sees either teenager is asked to contact Cumbria Police with the relevant information. Sharna Wood is described as 17, 5ft 3ins, slim, with long dark hair and brown eyes, while Kyle Hindmoor is 17, 5ft 9ins, slim, with short dark hair. Both are believed to be in the Workington area, and police are concerned for their welfare.
