US And Iran Exchange New Strikes As Conflict Around Strait Of Hormuz Intensifies

The conflict between the United States and Iran intensified again after both sides carried out fresh military strikes targeting infrastructure and strategic assets across the region. 

According to the US Central Command, American forces launched a seventh consecutive night of operations, striking surveillance facilities, military logistics sites, underground weapons storage areas, and maritime capabilities linked to Iran. Washington says the operations are intended to weaken Iran's ability to threaten regional shipping and allied forces.

Iran has continued responding with missile and drone attacks, prompting several Gulf nations to activate their air defence systems. Kuwait reported intercepting incoming missiles and drones, while Jordan and Iraq also confirmed defensive actions against aerial threats. Air raid sirens were activated in Bahrain as regional governments remained on high alert.

The ongoing conflict has severely disrupted maritime traffic through the Strait of Hormuz. Shipping activity has fallen sharply since Iran restricted access to the waterway, sending global oil prices higher as traders worry about possible long term supply disruptions. Analysts say any prolonged closure could significantly affect international energy markets.

Speaking earlier this week, President Donald Trump defended the US military campaign, stating that operations were progressing successfully while reaffirming Washington's commitment to protecting regional allies and maintaining freedom of navigation through the Gulf. Iranian officials, meanwhile, have vowed to continue resisting what they describe as foreign aggression.

Despite the continued military exchanges, diplomatic efforts have not ended. Regional mediators, including Qatar and Oman, alongside several European governments, remain engaged in attempts to reopen negotiations and prevent the conflict from expanding into a broader regional war. However, no significant breakthrough has yet been announced.

International leaders and the United Nations have renewed calls for restraint, warning that further escalation could threaten regional stability, disrupt global trade, and increase humanitarian risks. With military operations continuing and diplomatic talks producing little progress, the situation remains one of the world's most closely watched security crises.
