People in Barrow have gathered to honour the memory of those who served during the Battle of Britain as the town held its annual parade and remembrance service.

The Battle of Britain was fought largely in the skies over Britain as the Royal Air Force defended the country against German air attacks. In Barrow, the annual commemoration provides an opportunity for local veterans, representatives of armed forces organisations, civic figures and members of the public to come together and pay their respects. The importance of keeping the memory of the Battle of Britain alive has also been reflected in other communities. At Boston, RAF Coningsby personnel took part in the town's annual commemoration on September 20, with a parade paying tribute to those who served during the 1940 campaign.
