Keswick to Barrow Team Praised After Incredible Fundraising Effort for CancerCare

16 May 2026 Keswick to Barrow Team Praised After Incredible Fundraising Effort for CancerCare

A team supporting the charity CancerCare has been recognised for its outstanding effort during this year’s Keswick to Barrow and Coniston to Barrow walking events, with organisers praising participants for their commitment and determination.

More than 60 walkers joined the challenge in support of the charity, taking on demanding long distance routes across Cumbria to help raise funds for cancer and bereavement support services. Participants included people of different ages and backgrounds, all working together to support the cause.

CancerCare described the group as an “incredible team”, thanking everyone involved for their energy, fundraising efforts, and dedication throughout the event. Support crews and volunteers were also praised for helping walkers during the demanding challenge.

The Keswick to Barrow event remains one of Cumbria’s best known community fundraising traditions, attracting hundreds of participants every year. Walkers complete long distances through difficult terrain while raising money for charities and local organisations.

Supporters lining parts of the route helped encourage participants as they pushed through physical exhaustion and changing weather conditions. Many walkers said the event was both emotionally rewarding and physically demanding, particularly for those taking part in memory of loved ones affected by cancer or bereavement.

CancerCare provides emotional, practical, and mental health support services for individuals and families facing cancer related challenges and grief. Fundraising initiatives such as the Keswick to Barrow walk play an important role in helping the charity continue its work across the region.

Organisers and supporters said the strong turnout once again demonstrated the power of community spirit and local fundraising, with participants coming together to support vulnerable people and essential care services across Cumbria.

The charity is expected to continue fundraising activities throughout the year as demand for support services remains high.
