Furness Cardiac Campaign Raised By Barrow MP In Parliament.
A campaign focused on cardiac health and sudden cardiac death has been raised in Parliament by Barrow and Furness MP Michelle Scrogham, highlighting concerns around heart-related emergencies and the importance of improving awareness.
The issue has received growing attention across the Furness area, with local organisations and campaigners working to ensure communities have better access to information and lifesaving support. Michelle Scrogham has previously taken an active role in parliamentary discussions around cardiac issues. She is also chair of the Cardiac Risk in the Young All-Party Parliamentary Group, which focuses on raising awareness of sudden cardiac death among young people.
The campaign comes as wider concerns about healthcare services in Furness continue to receive attention. Furness General Hospital provides emergency, critical and coronary care services to the local population, although the future of some critical care provision has remained an important local issue.
Campaigners have continued to stress the importance of early intervention, CPR awareness and access to defibrillators, which can play a crucial role when someone suffers a cardiac arrest.
Across the Furness Peninsula, community initiatives have also helped increase access to lifesaving equipment. Previous local campaigns have supported the installation of additional defibrillators in communities including Millom and Silecroft.
By raising the issue in Parliament, the campaign aims to keep cardiac health and lifesaving support high on the agenda and encourage continued action to protect people across Furness.
The parliamentary focus also provides an opportunity to highlight the work being carried out by local communities, charities and healthcare organisations to improve awareness and strengthen support for people affected by cardiac conditions.
