M6 Northbound at Junction 38 to Close Overnight for Essential Resurfacing Work
National Highways has announced that the northbound carriageway of the M6 at Junction 38 near Tebay will be closed overnight to allow urgent resurfacing work to take place. The closure will begin at 8pm on Wednesday 3 December and will remain in place until 5am on Thursday 4 December. The emergency repairs are being carried out to maintain the road surface and ensure the route remains safe for all motorists.
During the closure, drivers will be directed to exit the M6 using the northbound slip road at Junction 38 and immediately rejoin the motorway via the adjacent entry slip road. This short diversion has been planned to keep traffic flowing while allowing maintenance teams to work within a safe environment.
National Highways has stated that only minimal disruption is expected, as the work is scheduled for overnight hours when traffic levels are significantly lower. Even so, motorists travelling in the area are encouraged to plan ahead and allow a little extra time for their journeys.
According to National Highways, the resurfacing is part of essential maintenance aimed at improving road conditions, enhancing safety and ensuring the smooth operation of one of the country’s key motorway routes. The organisation has thanked drivers for their patience while the improvement work is carried out.
