Date set for Barrow Armed Forces Day celebration
Organisers have confirmed that Barrow-in-Furness will hold its Armed Forces Day celebration on Saturday 27 June 2026, with events planned across the town to recognise the service and sacrifices of members of the UK Armed Forces and their families.
Armed Forces Day is a national occasion dedicated to showing support for serving personnel, veterans and their loved ones. Across the UK communities mark the day with parades, family events and activities that bring people together to pay tribute to the military.
In Barrow, the event on 27 June will form part of the wider Armed Forces Day weekend, following a flag raising and parade that took place in the town in previous years and saw strong community participation from military personnel, veterans and cadets.
Local organisers are encouraging residents to attend and take part in the celebrations, which are expected to include opportunities for families to enjoy entertainment, refreshments and community activities while showing their appreciation for those who serve.
Armed Forces Day provides a chance for people of all ages to come together in support of the armed services and to recognise the important role they play in national life.
